My "Personal Brand" - Blog 1

My goals, dreams, and ambitions are all very similar. I have two main ones: these are beauty related and fitness related.

Ever since I was in high school (freshman and sophomore) I have been very passionate about all things beauty, specifically makeup. Not everyone thinks of makeup as a form of art but I really think it is, which is why I love it so much. Your face and body are your canvases and all that is left is to get creative with what you choose to do with makeup. I have never been one to experiment with different makeup looks that go beyond the "everyday" type makeup. But other forms of makeup would include editorial, runway, and stage (costume) makeup. Editorial and runway are specifically cool to look at because it is where people tend to get really creative and try new things out. So here is my first goal, dream, and ambition: I would love to work in the makeup industry in the marketing department. This is why I am currently studying marketing with my other concentration being in entrepreneurship and international studies (because both are also essential qualities for the global beauty industry.

Fitness is something I have struggled with for years about being consistent with an end goal in mind. But surprisingly I have become better and better with feeling eager to hit the gym. My main focus at the gym is weight-lifting because I hate cardio. Loving fitness has given my insights as to what is good to wear at the gym, specifically involving choice of footwear and leggings. I am also a huge advocate for athleisure and because of this I pretty much live in yoga pants and Nike's. As for my other goal, dream, and ambition: I am also very interested in pursing a career in the sports and athletic industry. Including sports teams and fitness clothing companies.

As for my experiences and influences (and influencers), I have many experiences around both makeup and fitness.

With makeup, I am self-taught but I love collecting as much as possible. I also currently work for a skincare company called Anfisa (launching very soon). I also have networking connections with employees at both Urban Decay and Hourglass. My favorite makeup artists include Linda Hallberg, NikkieTutorials, and Jaclyn Hill. All are incredibly talented artists with different areas of focus.

As for fitness, I have had a lot of training with coaches about proper form and becoming knowledgeable about which exercises effect different parts of your body. As I said before, I am not a fan of cardio but I would argue that riding horses is a form of cardio, a team sport, and a fitness activity. I have been riding horses since I was 8 years old (currently 20 so for 12 years). I have also learned a lot about form and training techniques from many trainers and competing in shows. Both weight lifting and riding horses are areas of fitness that I love. But I would not be interested in getting involved in the horse industry. Instead, I focus more on the brands I love (Nike) and the sports that I watch (really it's only basketball).

I hope I will be able to use this blog to show ideas and tips on how I do makeup and what exercises I do at the gym!
